Hello there.
My name’s Amanda, but some of my favorite people in the world call me Deeda.
When I first started this blog in 2011, I didn’t post very often and I mostly talked about dogs. Then in late 2012, I finally admitted my big secret to the 4 people who were actually reading those sporadic posts—my husband Eric and I were unable to have children. Over the course of the next year I became a bona fide infertility blogger, discussing every aspect of trying to make a baby…with science! We went through IVF, miscarriage, more IVF, more miscarriage… 2013 was a long and miserable ride. But then that September we tried IVF for the third time and amazingly, that one stuck. Our rainbow baby Molly was born in June of 2014.
Then a funny thing happened. Not funny haha, more like, are you freaking kidding me right now funny. In March of 2015, after being told by more than one medical professional that getting pregnant would require either IVF or a miracle, the miraculous occurred and I got pregnant the old fashioned way. Bonus baby Liam joined our family in November, just 17 months after his sister made us parents. It’s all very unbelievable yet true.
What else about me? People pay me to write for a living so I often neglect this blog due to creativity burnout. That’s the excuse I tell myself, anyway. I love to read and don’t read enough anymore. I love the beach, silently correcting other people’s grammar, coffee followed by more coffee, and stalking real estate listings with no intention of actually moving. I think making new mom friends is scary. I hate sitting around the house and am usually up for anything, from impromptu Target shopping trips to Civil War reenactments. If it sounds even slightly interesting – the answer is YES.
Oh yeah, and I’m a mom. A mommy blogger who embraces that curiously negative distinction because it happens to be accurate—I am a mommy who blogs. I freely admit that having children changed my life in immeasurable ways and while I still maintain an identity apart from those little ones, I am forever different (in a good way) because I am their mama. That’s just the way it is.
Are these sections supposed to be short and sweet? I’m pretty sure I just went off on an unnecessary tangent. Anyway, if you want to find out more about me just keep reading along, or send me a message. I love making new friends almost as much as I love burnt toast.
XOXO,
